The Boy Who Named Crow
This literary work by a Japanese metaphysical author, Haruki Murakami, entitled "The Boy named Crow," speaks about surrealism in which it is very complex in this literary piece at first because there are many chapters in this tale that tell about Kafka's life. This story is excerpt from Kafka on the Shore.
Kafka on the Shore was Murakami's tenth novel, marks a slight departure from his previous works. While the majority of Murakami's characters are thirty-twomen who favor isolation and have an unmistakable history of females, the primary protagonist of this novel is a fifteen-year-old runaway. Kafka on the Shore is mostly a classic Murakami. The story is rich in references to music and Western culture, dreamy scenarios that expose the spooky underbelly of ordinary life, utterly unadorned language, and elements of magical realism that challenge the reader's grasp of reality. It was published in 2002. Murukami's intention was to write a story about a boy who run away from his father and search for his long-lost mother.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Haruki Murakami is a writer from Japan. His books and tales have been bestsellers in Japan as well as globally, and his work has been translated into 50 languages and sold millions of copies outside his indigenous nation. His work has been described as 'easily accessible, yet profoundly complex'. Since childhood, Murakami has been heavily influenced by Western culture, particularly Western music and literature. He grew up reading a range of works by American writers, such as Kurt Vonnegut and Richard Brautigan, and he is often distinguished from other.
This novel tells us that "Fate is sometimes like a sandstorm that keeps shifting directions..." . In the parallel tale, Nakata seems incapable of decision and the events of his life seem to be driven entirely by external forces or destiny. How does each person live out or circumvent his destiny? What does this indicate about the significance of the novel as a whole?

From the beginning, his writing was defined by pictures and occurrences that the author himself found hard to understand but which appeared to come from the memory's internal recesses. Some asserted that this ambiguity, far from off-putting, was one of the reasons why he was popular with readers, particularly young people, who were bored with the popularity with readers, particularly young people, who were bored with the self-confessions that formed the mainstream of modern Japanese literature. His perceived absence of a political or intellectual position irritated "severe" writers, who rejected his early writings as no more than entertainment.

The primary protagonist in this excerpt, Kafka wanted to run away from his dad because he wanted to find a job in another to get his own cash. Soon after that, Kafka discovered a friend
named Crow. Typically, this crow, a friend of his, was able to offer him guidance. Advice that Kafka used to portray himself in running away from his dad. Crow interrogates Kafka to make sure he has enough cash stolen from Kafka's father, for his journey and to make sure that Kafka understands the seriousness of the step he is about to take.Thou Kafka is apprehensive about the fate that lies in store for him, Kafka believes that the risks are worth it. Indeed, Kafka recounts this story after the events took place, as he predicts: "On my fifteenth birthday, I'll run away from home, I'll go back to my father's house. Journey to a far-off town and live in the corner of a small library "Both Kafka and the boy named Crow equate this journey with the metaphor of a" sandstorm "of destiny, which is Crow stating that" And once the storm is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive.

In our lives, particularly if you are a teenager, friendships are very essential, no matter what happens and issues come to you. Your friends will always be on your side to cure you. The significant part of our lives is that they are the ones who make us happy when we are in pain and make us powerful when we are weak. The advantage of having friends is that they can lend you a hand everytime you need help and the disadvantages of havinga friend is sometimes they have poor impact or they could be the one fluencing you to engaged on bad doings like smoking, drinking alcohol or using/taking probohited drugs.
Murakami uses the device of alternating chapters to tell the coinciding, it allows him to illustrate the connections between the two protagonists while still keeping them separate. This device aids in propelling the narrative forward and organizing the sometimes confusing storylines. He also employs postmodern structural elements, too. On several occasions, the first-person narrative shifts to second person. These shifts mark tremendous changes in the storyline and cause the reader to question what he or she has come to know about the characters, whether the words on the page represent a dream or reality, or whether the moment in time being described is really the present.
Overall the story had a great impact not just to all who read sa story but especially to the typical teenger like me or an 11 year old kid who once planned to run away from home because of family problems. For a kid ages 11 doesn't know yet how to face their own problems or challenges but instead step back from the chaos.Because now, I am alright and everything is good. Even though Kafka's and my 11-years old self's decision was different, the point of Crow in the story where he said that fate is you. I learned that fate will always depend on him you will make your decision, because at the end of the day, it's you who will still matters
The advice of Crow about life being a sandstorm inspired me a lot to face my problems instead of running away from it. Because like what Crows had said, once the problems are over , you will never remember how you survived , but one thing is for sure, you are not the same person again. And with that, I will faced the conflicts that will come my way like what my 11-years old self did, because I wanted to learn and be a better version of myself.
